Luffas With a Cause
Turns out those luffa sponges you buy at the store are actually plants! The Elementary students in Newark City Schools are helping our cause by starting our luffas in their classrooms. These luffas will be replanted at our 6th street garden on beautiful trellises. After the Luffa’s have dried out in the fall we make fun and luxurious soaps with the participants of our Here We Grow Gardens Program. Our soaps are sold at all of our fundraising events for $5 each. Then the process starts all over again! All proceeds will go towards the mission of our community gardens and our vision of leaving our community fuller and healthier than we found it. So keep an eye out for our luffa soaps, grown by Newark City School students and made with love the Together We Grow way.
