Volunteers are Always Appreciated

Many ways to get your hands dirty!​​​

• Seasonal Garden Tending:

  • ​Prepare Garden by Tilling & Weeding before planting (March-April)​

  • Plant Seeds (April-June)

  • Summer Garden Care (June - October)

  • Garden Clean up (September- November)

• Special Projects:  Installing new raised Garden Beds, replacing garden fabric, building & site maintence,  compost work team, and more.

• Lend a hand with our "Here we Grow Gardens" program for adults with developmental disabilities held at our greenhouse. (year round). 

• Help with a Community Events - we regularly host classes and workshops at Heritage Greenhouse and Community Gardens.

• Mentoring with Other Gardeners - We aim to help first time gardeners and gardening legends connect as buddies.

• Help students plant garden beds - Volunteers can help us teach students in our Power of Plants program at Newark City Schools.

Other ways to get involved:​​

Rent a garden bed (May - October):

Experience the joy of gardening. Plots include seeds & water. $10/ small bed, $25/ large bed.

Attend a U-Pick Event (July - October)

Enjoy picking your own fruits and vegetables at our community gardens. Free produce available to everyone who comes!
